Step 1: Assessment of Goals and Objectives

A proper assessment is crucial to ensure that you and your Investment Advisor are working together to achieve your goals. The assessment process is commonly overlooked and under-utilized at traditional wire houses and discount brokers, not at BASILICA. We believe without a solid understanding of client needs, goals, and preferences, that advice can become non-specific and misguided.


Step 2: Plan Creation

Once reasonable goals and objectives have been established, we work together to create a plan that seeks to address highlighted concerns, identified deficiencies and important priorities. We believe that a long term plan, whether it is geared towards retirement or specific savings goal (Eldercare Planning, Education Planning, home purchase, major purchases, etc...), must be measurable and customized, not generically benchmarked.

Once a plan is in place we work with our clients to create an Investment Policy Statement (IPS) that serves as the "owner's manual" for how we will work together. The development of an Investment Policy Statement serves as the foundation of our relationship with our Private Clients. This document, historically used by Endowments, Foundations and Institutional Investors, allows all us to stay accountable to our clients and their expectations. This document identifies roles & responsibilities, target allocations, investment preferences, required rates of return, and acceptable investment risks.


Step 3: Portfolio Advice

Once we have a good understanding of your goals and objectives, and have completed the planning process, your Investment Advisor will customize specific recommendations to your unique needs and preferences. All recommendations are product agnostic, client driven, and without transaction fees. We will communicate the basis and rationale for the portfolio changes, and explain how the investment strategy is designed to meet your specific plan and preferences.

We are truly agnostic as to the type of investments recommended from Mutual Funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) or individual securities, all portfolios are truly customized for each client.


Step 4: Ongoing Advice and Guidance

You will decide the type of contact and frequency of interaction with your Investment Advisor, not our internal quotas. We will work with you to make sure that your investments are managed in-line with your stated needs, goals, and objectives. If those needs change, we will develop a new Investment Policy Statement (IPS) to ensure that our advice and recommendations remain suitable and appropriate to your changing needs. Major life events such as retirement, change in expenses, death, divorce, etc., can have a major impact on one's investment needs and financial plan. Our collaborative approach ensures that we are taking all external influences into consideration.
